ABOUT RONALD

As of March 2021, Ronald is head of finance of the city of Almere. Almere is a young, ambitious and rapidly growing city, built on the new land of Flevoland. Ronald leads 4 teams of over 100 professionals, who take care of the finance and control processes of the city.

At its peak in 2016, ICS had offices in 3 regional offices in Africa and 3 in Asia, employing over 150 people. Ronald has led ICS through a process of 'southernization': ICS SP was registered in Kenya, and after a process of several years of capacity building, has taken over management of all ICS activities in the south (see www.icsafrica-sp.org ). Since beginning 2021, ICS Netherlands is operationally managed by Terre des Hommes. Ronald remains chair of the board of ICS SP.

Ronald is also chair of the board of SOMO ( www.SOMO.nl ). The Centre for Research on Multinational Corporations (SOMO) is a critical, independent, not-for-profit knowledge centre on multinationals. Since 1973 it has investigated multinational corporations and the impact of their activities on people and the environment. It provides custom-made services (research, consulting and training) to non-profit organisations and the public sector, and strengthens collaboration between civil society organisations through our worldwide network. In these three ways, SOMO contributes to social, environmental and economic sustainability.

In 2020, Ronald started Het Grote Werk (The Great Work, www.hetgrotewerk.nl ), a center for inner development in a hectic world. For 20 years, Ronald has been a student of the Ridhwan school of AH Almaas. He is also yoga teacher in the tradition of swami Sivananda. He has first hand experience of the challenges of being on an intensive spiritual path, while at the same time functioning in a demanding position in the world and raising three children.
